Mobile point of sale or MPOS has changed the way businesses operate. The convenience of paying and receiving payment almost whenever, wherever gave the old cash register, quite literally and figuratively, a run for its money. The demand for MPOS systems grew quickly and with such availability and affordability, it came as no surprise that it has widened its reach tremendously. What used to be available solely from big companies is now offered by start-ups. If you already have a nifty MPOS system in place, then your next step should be maximizing it.
Here’s how to do that.
- Power up. MPOS relies on device battery and internet connection to function. With that in mind, make sure you have those ready for seamless transactions. Choose a provider that offers the best data coverage in your location or if selling elsewhere, check the signal before putting up your store. Prepare for a back up connection, too, in case you encounter problems with your main provider and have a mobile battery pack ready. Nothing says maximized MPOS system than a fully functioning one.
- Study and use the features. You’ve probably come across MPOS features when you were still deciding which system to buy and which features to include. If you have chosen one with a consumer shopping application, an inventory system perhaps, or a system that can generate reports to ease your accounting and marketing efforts, now is the time to utilize and maximize these. If you found a feature complicated or not really helpful, ask your MPOS provider for help or get it removed it especially if it’s just an added expense.
- Get the word out. Don’t assume that people know you have an MPOS system ready. Not everyone asks especially if the industry or environment you work in mostly accept cash payments. So, spread the word; put it in your website, send email to customers, include in your promotional stickers or advertise. With a good MPOS system – and especially if most of your competitors don’t offer it yet – you can attract customers who prefer not paying in cash at the moment. Let customers, both existing and potential ones, know of this option.
